FAQ’s

Are we the project for you?
Are you a Christian college student or on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ in any venue?  Do you have a teachable spirit, a desire to live in authentic relationships, and an appreciation for the outdoors?  If so, then this expedition may very well be for you.  The expedition is emotionally intensive, and you will be expected to fully participate in and practice what you are learning. Much of what you will be exposed to will be transferable for you to use back on your campus in your small groups and leadership teams.

How do I raise support?
This expedition is like many missionary trips in that you are expected to raise the full cost before reporting.  The process of support raising can be a tremendous time for character growth, humility, perseverance, and faith. It is through support raising that we often see God’s provision in tangible ways and we experience the love and generosity of others. We will help guide you through this process and provide you with helpful materials to get you started.

Will I be able to get a summer job on project?
No.  This is a unique project in many ways. Your learning and growth will take place through process learning and small group interactions that require you to be “on,” in terms of being involved in the learning environment, full time.  We have purposefully structured this experience so you can get a job back home or be available for summer classes later on.

How is the Utah Expedition different from other projects?
The Utah Expedition is distinct.

    •    A ten day expedition allows students to have much of the summer off for work, vacation or summer classes
    •    Our focus is on character and leadership development: producing multiplying disciples of Christ, who want to see the world changed for Christ and have a taste of how to make that happen
    •    All of our training takes place in the outdoors, challenging students physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually
    •    Evangelism occurs as a product of right relating; it is both accidental and incidental

Do I need prior experience in the outdoors?
No.  Experienced guides will coach you through each activity providing instruction and safety. The activities themselves are not the focus of the project, they are our choice of classroom as we focus on growth concepts. That being said, all of our training will be in the outdoors, so it will be more pleasurable for you if you take some degree of enjoyment from outdoor activities and have a certain level of fitness.  Our only guideline is that you be physically able to carry a twenty pound pack for two miles.  You will be required to participate in all outdoor activities, so please do plan accordingly.
